Meet our team

Elyse Lappano

Founder & CEO

I’m an educator, leader, and community builder with a passion for designing inclusive, hands-on learning experiences that create meaningful impact. In my current role as Educational Developer, Curriculum at Niagara College, I collaborate with instructors, academic teams, and senior leaders to enhance teaching practices, develop new programs, and bring innovation into learning environments.

Previously, I spent over a decade at Brock University in leadership roles, including Manager of Experiential Education and Manager of Student Information & Services. I led cross-functional teams, supported faculty in embedding experiential learning, and helped align services with evolving student and institutional needs.

A core focus of my work is accessibility and inclusion. At Brock, I lead the facilitation of SNAP (Supporting Neurodiversity through Adaptive Programming), designing adaptive physical activity programs that empowered neurodiverse participants and student volunteers. I also played a key role in establishing the Centre of Excellence in Inclusive & Adaptive Physical Activity (CAPA), which continues to support innovative, community-based programming and research.

With expertise in curriculum design, program development, and accessibility advocacy, I support teams and organizations in reimagining their learning strategies and service models. My work includes streamlining operations, facilitating professional development, and fostering inclusive, engaging programming across a range of settings.

This work has been recognized in a number of ways, including Brock’s Accessibility and Inclusion Award, and it continues to shape how I approach building equitable, high-impact learning experiences. In 2024, I was honoured to be named one of Niagara’s 40 Under Forty Business Achievement Award recipients. I’ve also been proud to receive several community partnership awards and to contribute to teams that have been recognized for outstanding service and innovation.

My academic background includes a Master of Arts in Applied Health Sciences and a Bachelor of Physical Education, with graduate research focused on developing sustainable physical activity programs for the disability community, which continues to influence my practice in building evidence-informed, inclusive programming.

Whether I’m leading a workshop, consulting on curriculum or program design, or conducting an accessibility review, I bring a collaborative, hands-on, and outcomes-driven mindset. I’m known for asking thoughtful questions, building trust with interest holders, and creating solutions that lead to meaningful, sustainable change—across sectors and communities.

Sandy Howe

Founder & CEO

I’m an active citizen in my communities, a passionate educator, and a seasoned post-secondary administrator for the past two decades with a background in mental health and crisis response, experiential learning, and community partnerships, as well as decolonization and building relationships with Indigenous communities as a settler on these lands.

With a lifetime of focus on service to various types of communities, mental health training and advocacy, facilitation, and build teams with that “magic” feeling, I am certain that a rising tide lifts all boats and when people are supported and feel a sense of belonging, we can do powerful things together! I currently serve as Past President of the Distress Centre Niagara’s Board of Directors and am a 10+ year facilitator and contract trainer with the Mental Health Commission of Canada, coming up on 1,000 Canadians trained! I strongly believe that when we care for one another first and focus on wellbeing, people will then give 110% to their “work” (families and friends, jobs, community involvement, and more). I lean into tough conversations, leading with curiosity, empathy, and understanding, strive for open communication, and enjoy facilitation on a variety of additional topics.

Specialties:

  • Mental Health First Aid and mental health training
  • Indigenous methodologies (research), decolonization support, and EDI training
  • Community-engaged learning and relationship development
  • Strategic planning
  • Experiential learning, reflective practice, and partnership development
  • Instructional Skills Workshop (Facilitators’ Development Workshop certified)
  • Performance management and coaching
  • Change management
  • Core skills development (i.e. caring, empathy, emotional intelligence, etc.)
  • Leadership coaching, mentorship, and personal growth workshops

With 20 years of experience working across Ontario Universities, I’ve had a diverse and amazing career! Beginning my career living on campuses to support students in their homes and responding to after-hours crises, I’ve since had the privilege of building and launching an Experiential Education department at Brock University – the first of its kind in Canada – and which quickly became a best practice standard for hands-on, community-engaged learning in the country. As the current Director, Enrolment Supports and personal consultant, I specialize in change management and those working in complex, decentralized organizational structures. I’ve also had a life-changing experience completing my graduate studies with a focus on decolonizing experiential learning within the university structure and environment. As a settler scholar, I was grateful to do this alongside a strong and enthusiastic community of Indigenous peoples with Indigenous methodologies at the heart of the work.

My Enneagram 7 shines when new opportunities cross my path as well as when values align with those around me, and new ideas surface that could have a positive impact. The chance to bring positive energy, support,t and possibility to others in their learning and development journey lights me up!

We also work with a talented collective of associates!  Stay tuned for introductions to these fine folks soon.
